An Unlikely Subject

How hard is it to get into graduate school or medical school. I have found that the resources are harder to find than for undergrad. I am a senior in high school planning on majoring in physics. My future plans are very ecclectic, and I was wondering how hard is it to get into a grad program for say engineering, law, med, or physics. From the stats I have found, it seems easier! Am I wrong when I heard that the Cornell Med School has a 90% acceptance rate? Anyway, I was just curious.

To all you who know about physics, what are the best undergraduate colleges for placement into a physics graduate position at HYPMSC? I know this is a harder question for an undergraduate forum, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone know about grad school?

i just know that apparently it’s a lot easier to pay for grad school, or so i hear… if u do well that is
and oftentimes they’ll even end up paying you

Any grad school wannabes out there?

“Am I wrong when I heard that the Cornell Med School has a 90% acceptance rate?”

im by no means an expert, but im planning on going to med school, and overall it seems like they have about a 30-50% acceptance rate (ive heard there used to be 3 candidates for every seat overall in teh 70s/80s, but thats decreasing to 2 candidates for every seat)

i think probably by the above quote you were looking at cornell’s grad school placement rate, so they’re saying that out of 100 ppl in their school who want to go to med school, 90 get accepted. that’s pretty good i guess, but i’ve heard a lot of school fudge these numbers by saying something like 90% of QUALIFIED students get accepted, and it’s up to them to decide who’s qualified (so if you want to apply, but they think ur unqualified, and you get rejected, you wont be counted in the stats)…i dont know if that really makes sense, but thats the best i can explain it. try the medical school forum…some ppl are really helpful there

Thanks! Any science grad school wannabes?

Great story about Grad school:

My Uncle Mike scored incredibly well on the GMAT (business school test), had graduated from UWash. with a 4.0 GPA and he could go pretty much anywhere he wanted. After a while, he decided to go to the University of Arizona (the Eller College of Management) but was too lazy to send in his application. As they came closer and closer to the deadline, UA became desperate and ended up offering to pay him to go to school there! All because he was lazy!

Also, the President of the Eller School got indicted for “double-dipping” (billing the University and the Eller College) to pay for crack and hookers. LOL!

Hah, that’s pretty funny! I have heard to that grad schools like to pay kids, but I don’t think I will miss a deadline. To risky. Any other grad school info? I am oh so intrigued
