An update & request for good thoughts!

I just realized it’s been a while since I came on CC at all, and you all have been such a great support system for me since I joined CC 4 years ago(!!!), so I thought I would give a short update on how things are going in my life!

I just finished participating in this year’s production of “The Vagina Monologues” at Sonoma State…it was a completely life-changing experience for me. It helped me really become confident in myself as a woman, as well as connect me with some of the most incredible women I’ve ever met.

I’m currently helping design the curriculum as well as facilitate a series of workshops that we’re using to screen/pre-train the potential student leaders for next school year…we didn’t get funding for the class we usually use for this, but it has turned out to be a wonderful experience. Even if the class isn’t able to come back next Spring (which is the current plan), the workshops may be able to suffice.

I will be GRADUATING on May 12th with my Psychology degree!

To that end, I’ve applied to go to grad school for a Master’s degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education. The only school I’m still waiting to hear back from is Indiana State University (which is where I’d REALLY like to go). I interviewed there just over a month ago, and I felt like the interview went VERY well, but I’m just freaking out a little bit since I still haven’t heard back. I sent them an e-mail this week and asked when I can expect to hear back, and got the response of “we’re still working on things. Thanks for your patience.” (almost verbatim the email I got.)

I know I only tend to come here when I need something from you all, but if you could PLEASE send some good thoughts my way, I would really appreciate it! I will of course let you all know when I hear back. If I don’t get in to ISU I’ll be headed back home to Southern California to take the summer off, re-assess, look for a job/career and try to figure things out.

Of course, if you have any suggestions/tips…those are always appreciated as well! :)

Good thoughts and prayers. :)

Time flies, HisGraceFillsMe! Sending positive energy your way!

It sounds as if you have grabbed hold of life and are on your way. Best wishes for you! Come back and talk to us. You know how parents are, we always want to know what the kids are doing.

Good luck to you!

Good luck! I will keep you in my prayers.

Congrats…your name says it all!

Nice to hear from you! You must really know where you want to be if you are choosing Terre Haute over So Cal  I am allowed to say that because I was born there when my parents were ISU students. Haha. I come from a long line of ISU teachers, so best wishes and I will keep you in my prayers. I have always enjoyed your posts.

CONGRATS on graduation. I hope you have a great ceremony and wonderful day.

Thank you all! I’m so excited to find out where life will take me next.

sryrstress–It will definitely be a huge adjustment to move to Terre Haute! But I’m really excited about their program and would love to do something different…I’ve spent my entire life in California!

Congratulations on your journey. What made you choose Indiana for your graduate program and where else did you apply?

Good luck!!

bluejay–I applied to Colorado State, SeattleU, Indiana U of Pennsylvania and Ball State.

I chose Indiana (assuming I get in) because they require 3 practicum experiences as well as an assistantship, so I would be getting quite a bit of experience in the field before I even graduate. Also, as I said, I wanted to go somewhere completely different from California.

My fingers are crossed for you!

Grace, wishing you so much luck. I know you will do great! So proud of you!

Thank you!! :)
