Holy Moly. I didn’t realize until your post that you southerners actually had some snow accumulation. Crazy!
She asked on another thread for suggestions for coffee places in the Seattle airport as she’s ‘delayed’.
I dunno about the south getting snow, but I’m in Seattle. Married to a southerner, but he’s a Seattlite now. I’m one of those Northern folk.
I thought they were leaving Seattle today. And there have been tons of cancellations here because of a little bit of snow.
Yep. I’m north of you. You’re a southerner. And a 206er. ![]()
Hey, I’m a 425er. ![]()
Translation for everyone else: bougie King County but with Seattle-level traffic
Yup, I’m still in Seattle. First flight was cancelled, rebooked to an airport two hours from home. First that flight delayed and also eventually cancelled. Finding an airport hotel was challenging as most were booked. Ended up paying for flights for tomorrow on another airline that has a stop. It leaves at 5:15 am so I’m keeping fingers crossed. I’m hoping it works. Alaska rebooked flights for Sunday to the wrong airport. I’m hoping to get home tomorrow as my grandchild is coming in tomorrow.
As we were heading to Seattle we were notified one of the boats was under contract. We saw 3 other boats including one all the way down on the Columbia River. Long drive yesterday from Anacortes to Oregon border but we didn’t want to make another trip. Like two of them. Lots to think about.
Oh, that’s awful! I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this, and I hope you get home tomorrow. I’m assuming that Alaska will refund you for that portion of the flight.
Yes, but the SouthWest flight I booked is a lot more.
Sounds to me like maybe a stop at one of the fine dispensary establishments in Seatac (yes, a city) might have actually been prudent? ![]()
I know that the credit card I book my airline tickets on has travel insurance. Maybe there’s a way you can collect on yours, particularly since Alaska can’t do any better than two days late to the wrong airport? And hopefully will cover your hotel! Keep those receipts and notifications, if so.
Another 425-er here although married to a 206-er
! We got about 2 inches of the white stuff judging by what accumulated on the deck.
I had to go shake the stuff off my measly magnolia tree a couple of times.
Yup. Perella the TV weather woman just confirmed that we had 2 inches of snow. And another atmospheric river is coming our way. ![]()
I’m so sorry you had to deal with the craphole aka SeaTac airport. Flights get messed up at a drop of a hat. Hope the trip was a success, and your husband will get his boat (and return with it next time you come).
Are you serious, two inches? We just got a smattering of wet snow. We’re flying out tomorrow to Las Vegas to see the super bloom in Death Valley, hope to make it out of here!
Well dang. In my mind’s eye I had you both in Queen Anne or Magnolia. ![]()
I’m originally from the Midwest but met a man who was born a 509er when I was in Western WA for a summer internship. That was back in the days where Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties were also in the 206 zone. The first time I was ever called a 206er was by a 509er who was NOT using it as a term of endearment.![]()
@mom60 I truly am sorry your trip was needlessly exhausting, frustrating and expensive. I was hoping you’d find your dream boat and enjoy some grest sightseeing time.
Having said that, could you do all of us PNWers a huge favor and go home and tell anyone who mentions they’d like to live here that the traffic is worse than they’ve heard, the spring weather is actually arctic adjacent, we have 0 idea how to cope with 2 inches of snow (accurate), and all that’s left of retail here are Starbucks and weed shops on every corner but you have to dodge the protesters to even get inside? Thanks![]()

Lifelong 206-er here, as is H. We even live in the house I grew up in. That said, I am very particular about which parts of 206 are ok, and sometimes that even excludes my neighborhood, haha.
We live in the convergence zone, so often get hit with weather conditions (snow, rain, hail, etc.) that aren’t showing up mere miles away.
Our daughter’s BF was stuck for hours yesterday waiting for the plane he was on to get to a gate.
We had snow again this morning, so I hope you got out without difficulty.
Hoping @mom60 and her husband are on a flight out now as we speak! Ours is slightly delayed, but the weather is nice here at the airport. Don’t think we’re even going to have to de-ice.
I also grew up as a 206er, very impoverished. 206 locations can certainly run the gamut from extremely wealthy to very poor areas. Same in the 425 locale, as it covers such a large region.
You left out the homeless, that are camped out on every square inch of the city. And the trash, which is piled up in heaps everywhere. ![]()
We are home! The Southwest flight took off a bit late but we made our connection. Security both days went pretty smoothly. This morning at 3 am we were through in just a few minutes. Lots of people looking like they spent the night in the airport. We were lucky we could afford a hotel. @busdriver11 I’m glad you got out. I saw one Vegas flight on the board that was canceled.
Flight from Sacramento home the same flight my granddaughter and son-in-law were on coming to see us. She is 3 and got a kick out of seeing us on her plane. We made it to the birthday party.
I have no complaints about the Seattle airport. Lots of food choices compared to LAX.
Seattle is a big version of my small city. Lots of Starbucks and independent coffee shops, plenty of weed shops and a decent amount of homeless.
We drove 700 miles over two days. We luckily managed to avoid the worse traffic.
Offer made on a boat we added to see at the last minute. It’s not the boat model he thought he was looking for. We also liked another boat that was in Anacortes. My biggest sadness about the boat he likes is it’s not in Anacortes so I’m not sure we will spend time there this summer.
I’ll PM the boaters on here to let you know the boat he is likely going to buy.
