Anatomy of a riot

<p>There’s been a lot of media coverage of riots in the past months, and whenever I’m watching the news, I can’t help but feel lost as to how a riot even begins and what fuels people.</p>

<p>I understand that anger is probably a prime motive, but what exactly do people hope to achieve through street violence, throwing around bombs, and looting stores? I can’t wrap my head around the fact that thousands of people idiotically go around doing random, stupid <strong><em>. One example is the Vancouver riot that took place after a freaking Stanley Cup. What gives people the idea to even start a riot, and what gives people the sense to just go absolutely bat</em></strong> insane? Perhaps I give humanity too much credit…</p>
