<p>I really want to be a world reknowned ancient histroy scholar, and I think it would be awesome spending my life in pompeii or something. But realistically what is the job outlook for ancient history professors? And what is the average salary?

<p>I know nothing about salary. But I do know that in any given year, there are many more history Ph.D.'s graduating than there are positions for new young professors. To get one of those jobs, you will need to be one of the top graduates.</p>
