And again.... shooting at Texas church. Multiple dead & injured

Shooter down. Very conflicting numbers on dead and injured.

quoteThe FBI is responding to the scene of a reported shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, according to Michelle Lee, spokeswoman for the FBI’s San Antonio field office.

The shooter was killed after a brief chase north into neighboring Guadalupe County, according Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Robert Murphy. It is unclear if the shooter was killed by police or took his own life, Murphy said.

Local police also have responded to the scene, which occurred at the First Baptist Church, a witness told CNN. The witness, a cashier at a gas station across the street from the church, said she heard about 20 shots being fired in quick succession while a church service was underway around 11:30 a.m. local time.

No it is not too early to talk about gun control. Thanks for asking.

Absolutely, CF.

Just got a BBC alert: 27 confirmed dead.

Dang.

And no, it’s not too early to talk about gun control.

It’s like they are trying to outdo one another.

Omg. No words. Want cry but it’s too much in a week.

OMG. I’m sick to my stomach.

It’s never going to be enough is enough is this horrible country of ours.

Not confirmed, but I’ve seen some websites that have posted the shooter’s name. A local - not a terrorist, who possibly injured his family before the shooting. No words.

Narrative predictions based on color of the shooter:

White: mentally ill
Black: thug
Brown: immigration control

Too true.

I’m pretty sure he was a white male.

Officially deadliest shooting at a house of worship in US.

Now is it time to talk about gun control? I’m not holding my breath.

Ah if white male, that explains why we’re not allowed to politicize. It explains why there are thoughts and prayers rather than an immediate call to do something.

Reminder: by this time a few days ago when a terrorist ran down and killed 8 people, it had already become hugely politicized. Calls to reform our entire immigration system and a condemnation of our entire criminal justice system had already come from the top.

Today, triple the number of people were killed and we’re told it’s innapropriate to politicize.

I totally agree, romani.

Quoting the 2nd Amendment –

“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Well-regulated militia, people.

Why is that language ignored?

It seems that the groups who want to uphold the original interpretation of the Constitution should cling to those words and place gun ownership inside of well-regulated militias.

Texas is open carry, right? So, no armed civilian took out the shooter and saved lives? There goes that theory. Maybe we need more guns, right?

If we do not do something soon, we will be like our southern border neighbors where we will need armed guards at every public place. When I lived/worked there for few years, it was normal to see armed guards at restaurants, malls, banks, apartment lobbies. I always felt so good every time I came back to the States.

I can’t imagine how hard it is for the families & friends, when their loved one dies so unexpectedly.

Two funerals this weekend. Just got back from a Shiva call, and we talked about unexpected deaths vs. an illness. One funeral was for a g/f in her 50’s, and her parents were there. In both people, it was CA, so people got to,say their goodbyes. These terrorists attacks provide no closure.

We will hear thoughts and prayers and come the midterms the populace will send the same reps back with a nice wad of cash from the NRA. I’m over it, and yes I am pro gun. It perfectly fine to own a pistol and maybe a rifle, but all that other stuff needs to go.
