I am ashamed to say this happened very nearby, in a community that tends to be seen and to present itself as a liberal bastion.
Sadly, this wasn’t the first such instance this year.
People who have liberal views on some subjects may not necessarily have liberal views on other subjects. For example, someone who has liberal views on economic issues may have alt-right racist views on racial issues.
Also, not everyone in a liberal area has mostly liberal views, despite gerrymandering.
And again one must ask “What is WRONG with people?”
Boggles the mind.
I’m almost as disturbed by the people who continue to deny that this stuff happens, or deny that it has anything to do with race. There is none so blind as one who will not see.
Most are idiots.
Similar things have been happening more often than not in rich white exclusively liberal neighborhoods around here. My black friend and her peers had similar experiences many times. People in the same neighborhoods also send their kids to very expensive private schools, which became much more competitive (and pricey) due to intensive desegregation efforts in local public schools.
ETA - I did not mean that residents called 911, but they routinely approached and questioned people of color who visited their neighborhood for any reason, and several times threatened to call police.
