Ok anyone heard of this program? I just went through my D’s Dramatics magazine and there are all these programs listed that are new to me! Lol this one looks interesting…
ok, theaterwork…you are really finding some different schools…and i LIKE it!!! So I apologize in advance for stalking your posts!!
Ikr! I am a research driven person. Lol . I think that’s probably bad but hey…better that we have a lot of choices then not enough! My D gets that magazine from being in Thespian society or whatever and this month they had a college special issue. She brought a few schools to my attention and then I read it at lunch! I know I’m probably annoying people with all my questions lol
What happened to taking a break??? lol!!!
I know @Joyfulmama I’m supposed to be but I have some time off work right now so I’m taking advantage of it! Lol
Good for you! You are going to be so ahead of the game next year, it will definitely be less stressful for you both!
Yeah I really need to figure out the financial and basics of our list and I do think if we knock out basics now then next yr will be better. My D has some stress issues so anything will be helpful really. Visiting schools is really opening her mind up to options.
My daughter went through this process 5 years ago and this June graduated from NYU Steinhardt. For fun and memories, I occasionally come back to CC, and your post on this college caught my eye as it was new to me, also. I looked at general reviews of the college, which are fairly impressive, and then went to the Musical Theatre program page: http://www.andersonuniversity.edu/sites/default/files/programs/campus/school-of-the-arts/theatre/musical-theater.pdf
This university does have a predominant affiliation with the Baptist Church, which may fit very well with what some students are seeking. Some of that is obvious in the degree requirements. However, I must say that what I saw in the degree course requirements was a little surprising to me to see in a BFA degree. (you need to download the brochure to find the course requirements). There were many more general requirements than are usually seen in an MT BFA program, and many of the music requirements seemed to have a more ‘opera’ or general voice/music type focus, like opera workshop or conducting, even. There was quite a bit of music theory, but no mention of acting or dance instruction. There was something called ‘primary applied’ mentioned often, but I have no idea what that is.
I would highly recommend that in looking at each school consideration that you dig deep into the course requirements for the degree, as that is very telling as to the preparedness with which your student will exit the program with. We kept a folder for each college consideration that listed the schools’ requirements, and those played a big part in the final decision. Good idea to start looking and visiting early!

Thanks @EmsDad for that list. It’s so hard to find curriculum on these sites at some schools. The other listing that @Christie2 posted of classes was really confusing…and I know that’s from their site too…
