She will be giving a speech at Sproul Plaza, a public plaza known in the Free Speech movement of the 60’s.
There is no way to screen people coming to the speech for weapons, etc. Everyone is in the open.
Looks like she’s asking for problems and wants a brouhaha for her own purposes.
What would really be great would be to see the students make their point by just not attending. Showing up to speak to about 10 people would get her goat worse than chaos, which would probably make her day.
People are making this a way bigger issue than it needs to be… if you want to go, go. If you don’t want to go, don’t go. Why we need to instigate a witch hunt every time someone with different viewpoints wants to speak at a supposedly tolerant, open-minded school like Berkeley is beyond me… very hypocritical.
Making this a big deal only gives people like Coulter more reason to speak there.
Since when did shutting down opposing opinions become a thing on college campuses? It’s alarming how so precious our college kids have become they can no longer hear things they don’t like.
You can tell she is asking for problems because of the clothes she will be wearing, right? Short skirt for sure?
She gets to speak. Period. Just like anyone else. Protesting is allowed, but it should not disrupt the event.
Free speech. Hundreds of thousands have fought and died for it. It is unacceptable for a few people to decide they have the right to silence others. UNACCEPTABLE.
The likely thing to happen is that a few dozen violence prone people (both left and right wing) will show up to start fights. They will use any peaceful protesters as human shields and otherwise cause chaos (by attacking them) to reduce the risk of police being able to catch them.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Well, it took a grand total of 50 minutes for this thread to go off the rails. Several posts deleted. However, since this thread is really just a continuation of the previous Ann Coulter thread that was closed, I am closing this one as well. A closed thread is not an invitation to open a new thread to continue the discussion. Regardless, there is just nothing left to say.
