It’s really hard for me to believe it’s been 43 happy years. Can anyone on CC match or beat this? Honestly, I haven’t even run into many people in RL who can match this. Dh and I are 63.

Hearing of our long marriage, a someone asked my Dh one time, “What’s the secret?”
" I just keep showing up!" was his answer. His unfailing sense of humor is the real secret, if you want to know. ;)

Moonchild, big congratulations to you both! We married late-ish so can’t match your accomplishment!

Agree, “just showing up” IS the secret in lots of life things. Like a long marriage, or parenting.
Most of us try our best but FIRST you have to BE THERE. Through the fun, grief, tedium, excitement, joy, anger, love.

We were married in 1986, so we have a ways to go to catch up! My folks have been married 61 years now. Congrats! So far, knock wood, everyone in our extended family who is married is still happily married to their original partner (my folks & sibs & in-laws).

Congrats!
Our 40th will be in May. We met in college and married after H finished his master’s program and was in his first job.
We waited eight years to have kids, though, so will not be young grandparents.

Congrats Moonchild and Toledo. Have us beat by a long ways. Just celebrated our 25th a few weeks agp - but we were in our 30’s when we got married.

We celebrated 38. My parents will celebrate 60 this weekend. Heck, my son and his wife just celebrated 9. I hope to make it to the wedding of my grandkids like my parents did.

Wow–congratulations everyone! Only approaching 28 years here. . .

There are very few divorces in my extended family. (Not so in H’s). After H met all of my dozens of aunts/uncles/cousins and their spouses, he told me he’d figured out the family secret: Low expectations!
