Heyah,

I submitted my financial aid quite a bit after the deadline date and wasn’t surprised to get shafted in their decision. If I did well my freshmen year, would it be possible to get a decent financial aid package/grants/scholarship still? Or am I stuck with what I have?

THANKS

Hello! Timeliness is always key when submitting documentation for financial aid, at least for schools. FAFSA is an annual process, so you should have the opportunity to reapply for financial aid/grants/scholarships each year. One of the things you may want to consider is finding scholarships through private foundations. Although the funding may not come in time for an August or September entrance, it may help you avoid taking out as many loans. Private foundations often provide funding to students based on their academic achievement, financial need, ethnicity, area of study, religion, activities, etc. Getting a personalized scholarship search may help.
