Can purchase policy one day before trip and have it last a year. Rate is same price I got online as using Steve, but he will help with any claims if you buy through his store. For our ages, it’s under $400 for $100 deductible and under $600 for $200 deductible.

Well, just purchased BCBS global solutions gold policy today, effective in a few days. The price went up slightly in the interim but we weren’t 100% that we or our friends were going so waiting felt prudent. It was $434 for 1 year of coverage, 2 adults, with the older <84 years old. It will provide peace of mind for medical expenses & any evacuation.

Our local BCBS is primary but having the international coverage just is an extra layer of protection that feels prudent. It also covers evacuation and repatriation in case either is needed. There is free telehealth for a network of the BCBS global providers and they can help if you have issues.

We bought Allianz this time and almost had to try it out. DH will get his injury checked out tomorrow.
We’ve talked about this before, but the geo-blue year long policy isn’t available in all States, including mine.

The policy I got was BCBS Global Solutions, which I believe replaced GeoBlue. Using TripInsuranceStore is no extra charge and they can help with claims if needed.
You might want to check with the people at TripInsuranceStore but it’s my understanding that the evacuation coverage is generally for getting you to a larger hospital in the area you’re travelling if the one you initially are brought to is too small.
In the policies they do have some wordage about bringing you back home on a medical flight but it comes with some weasel terms sentences like “Following any covered emergency evacuation, or if deemed appropriate by Our or Our designee’s medical director in consultation with the attending physician”
One policy I know about that will fly you home provided you’ve been hospitalized abroad is medjet.

Yes, MedJet is best IF you qualify. For older folks, you need to fill out forms and get approved. H is older and may not pass their medical at this point.
