While comparing travel insurance policies and rates for a trip I just booked for DH and me, I noticed that one company offers an annual travel insurance plan, as opposed to insuring each trip individually. Since we have two additional trips planned for the the next year (2 international), an annual plan might make more sense.
Does anyone have experience with annual travel insurance? Pros and cons?
I saw a reference to that recently, on a thread here I believe, and inquired with TravelGuard.
What I found was that it did not cover the things I was interested in, like refunds if a family member became ill, but was more for a business traveller.
I have used https://www.medexassist.com/
I always max out the health coverage and medical evacuation insurance (unless you are a little older it is not to much $$$)
I have never had to test the insurance, so I can not attest to how good it really is.I also buy inbound insurance for family coming from out of the country to the united states .I have also used travelguard as momiva mentioned.
read the details on any coverage or better yet be the annoying person who calls and asks a hundred questions before purchasing! better safe than sorry!
i forget to mention i buy as needed…just because…I am a creature of habit! but if you know all the places you will travel it maybe worth it to get the annual coverage.
So much depends on ages, where you are going, general health and what you’re insuring against.
If you are interested in medical transport, especially international trips, have heard great things about MedJet assist which allows annual plans. For trip cancellation, etc., so far, we’ve just used what our CHase Ink and Sapphire cards provide free.
Be sure you are getting the protection you are paying for, which requires asking questions and reading fine print BEFORE paying, preferably before booking trip.
