(In a mere) teaspoon of topsoil, (there is) (likely to be) (more than) two billion microscopic organisms. or E no error

I don’t see how the answer is “there is”

I read it like the teaspoon was the subject. In a teaspoon of soil…there is…

Is it supposed to be “there are” or something else…

Even if you said "In topsoil there is more than 2 billion organisms…does that make sense…

Am i missing something completely? Help me out someone…

it would be “there are” because “two billion microscopic organisms” is plural.

There are likely to be Two billion organisms in a mere teaspoon of topsoil
