Another car question:Care of Soft top Convertible

Hi All,
It took almost two years for me to decide what I wanted. Volvo, Lexus, Camaro, Mustang, Mini. Then I fell for a BMW soft top 135i. First car I ever bought used but now wonder why I waited so long.
Best way to care for the soft top? In So California, it spends the night in garage, outside parking lot during work day. It was sad to say bye to the 12 yr old Lexus, the mom mobile that served us well. I surfed the BMW blogs but prefer to ask here where I won’t feel out of place.
What products do I use. I read about rag top?

The best thing to use is a car cover. The sun is the convertible top’s worst enemy and added to that is bee pollen and bird droppings along with just general dirt. Garage at night and car cover during the day. It takes only a minute to put a cover on or off. You don’t need a super expensive one (don’t buy it at the BMW dealer and don’t get a specialized one) but get one that fits decently and ideally is less than $100. If you use it like you should you’ll need to replace it every 3-4 years or so.

I use ‘Raggtopp’ for protecting mine which is a vinyl convertible top as opposed to a cloth one. It’s kind of like putting Armorall on something in the way it goes on. It’s quick and easy to apply but be careful of overspray on the windows. I’ve used their cleaner as well for spot cleaning but it doesn’t seem any better than any other kind of cleaner. For general cleaning I just wash the top when I’m washing the rest of the car.

My top is white so any kind of spot will show up.

Thanks. Anyone else have suggestions?
