Another cautionary tale about social media.

The commissioner of the FDNY had a sweet job opportunity for his brat son, but the dimwit couldn’t control his tweeting. Dad looks pretty terrible today.

[Fire commissioner’s son Joseph Cassano quits EMS in wake of racist tweets firestorm - NY Daily News](Fire commissioner’s son Joseph Cassano quits EMS in wake of racist tweets firestorm – New York Daily News)

Doesn’t say anywhere in the article that his dad got him the job, and he did come out strongly condemning what his son posted and supporting his resignation. I don’t see how he comes out “looking pretty terrible” in all this. Can’t hold a father accountable for the actions of his 23-year old son.

It’s a case where social media worked, IMO. The world got to find out what a racist idiot the son was before he got a chance to inflict himself on others through his job. I would hesitate to argue for being cautious when I think it’s a GOOD thing to expose people like this.

As for the dad-does he look bad for getting his son the job despite his son’s racism or for not teaching him how to hide it well enough?

For raising a stupid punk. I would be horrified if my kid was that ignorant. EMS is the secret door to the FDNY which has been embroiled in a racial scandal so having the commissioner’s son express such thoughts is ugly.

Wow. Glad he resigned and seen as he is. People forget the world is much smaller via Internet.
