Another child of tiger parents

I found this on AOL: [Opinion: My Life as the Child of a Tiger Mother](<a href=“News, Politics, Sports, Mail & Latest Headlines - AOL.com”>News, Politics, Sports, Mail & Latest Headlines - AOL.com)

He says that his parents’ methods may have been harsher than Chua’s (some of what he describes sounds abusive).

Very sad…I hope this is not the norm.

SaintSeans, thank you for posting this.

When my sister went to professional school at UCSF, her roommate has a “tiger mother”. This was the first we had ever see of this type parenting. Every night the girl’s mother would call her up, scream at her in Chinese, and leave her in tears. It was totally disruptive to her studying. The roommate never did anything for fun, no dating, no sightseeing, no movies, nothing. Every weekend was spent in her bathrobe, studying at her desk. She never even went to the student cafeteria for meals, she sat at her desk and ate ramen noodles with her nose buried in her books.

I’d like to read his book, “I Love Yous Are For White People” although I fear it might be heartbreaking.
