Okay so my academic stats/test scores are good but my ECs are somewhat lacking. I’m interested in engineering. This is my list so far : -

MIT
RPI
Rice
Purdue
Princeton
Cooper’s Union
Columbia
Stanford

Are there any good schools that are more focused on stats?

big universities tend to put more emphasis on stats.

id have to agree with dchow, although at some point you need to differentiate yourself, so why not just get to work on some great ECs?? its worth a shot in my opinion…

Well my ECs aren’t as bad as I made them out to be initially. I have quite a few it’s just that I have nothing spectacular(that will make me stand out) in my ECs.

What type of engineering are you looking for? Big names schools aren’t that good in engineering, i.e harvard for example. I would put UC-Berkley, Cal-Tech and Georgia Tech to your list.

I’m looking for Materials/Computer/Chemical Engineering and/or Computer Science. I under stand what you say about the big name schools but don’t the big name schools on my list have strong engineering programs?

Purdue’s engineering program is amazing.

Northwestern has very strong chemical and material sciences/engineering.

I’ve added some schools. What do you guys think?

MIT
RPI
Rice
Purdue
Princeton
Cooper’s Union
Columbia
Stanford
U Miami
Cornell
CMU
Georgia Tech
Northwestern

But that’s alot of colleges and it seems very reach heavy :(

U of Minnesota-Twin Cities is very atats oriented.

UW-Madison is also mostly stats driven if you aren’t from WI/MN/IL, but EC’s are almost more important.

Why not add U of Illinois to the list, for engineering?
