Today’s incident is at Central Michigan University, where the armed suspect is still at large.
Thoughts and prayers for the guns.
Jesus. I have friends and siblings of friends there.
The shooter is still at large and all Mt Pleasant schools are on lockdown.
Local news is reporting that 2 are deceased. Not the gunman.
19 year old guy with a gun.
“Deceased are not students”.
Domestic situation, they are saying. I wonder who they are? Curious.
I heard the parents.
Yep. His parents arrived to pick him up for spring break, so he shot them. Police had just taken him to the hospital Thursday night. Just released from a likely drug-related incident today, they are reporting.
?? What the heck?
So now no one else can pick up their kids either. I hope the kids can leave. I sure would.
What the heck is happening to kids today?
So this is defined as a “school” shooting because it was at a school? Doesn’t sound random but rather a dispute between parents and kid.
This is awful…just awful.
It occurred in a school dorm. There were students next door and in the hall. The school went into immediate lockdown and cancelled events. Students were reasonably believed to be in danger due to an armed suspect on school property. Yes, I think that qualifies as a school shooting.
Sounds awful! So much senseless violence!!!
I don’t understand why some people don’t find a shooting at a school to be a dangerous situation without needing it to be random or a mass shooting as well (not simply here in comments but elsewhere and in other shooting situations).
It’s awful. Just because it wasn’t random doesn’t mean we, as a society, should stop trying to prevent or minimize certain incidents instead of brushing them off like they are no big deal.
This is very close to me. Terrifying
As far as the news is saying, they still have not found the shooter.
I’m about an hour away, so not in my town
Oh it was “just” a family dispute mass shooting. Because, y’know, this is America and here, that’s totally normal.
A friend’s little sibling lives in that dorm. They weren’t there at the time luckily. We don’t know if they knew the shooter.
Every weekend in Chicago dozens are shot and several killed. To date 286 shootings. 76 dead. Not “mass” shootings and not at a school (although some are), but the numbers add up. Where is the outrage and the marches for them?
Why don’t you start one? I will come March with you.
@yourmomma March 24
So sick of this argument.
Did you know that there are often protests there? A sampling of protests over the last three years:

Go. Go look at that last one especially. Look at the 1000+ people marching.
They even pay attention to national events:

And people constantly doing things to bring attention to it? It’s why YOU know about it- even if you don’t know about the protests.
Maybe no one is listening in your corner of the world, but there is noise. And talking.
This just makes me sad. Two parents come to get their college kid who they have raised since a baby…who they loved and cared for…and he kills them.
It’s just so sad.
