Another "Do I have passion?" thread

Does this look like sufficient passion to get into Yale? I feel all squeamish now because I haven’t won any prestigious awards or anything…I’m not very competitive, I just do this stuff for fun.

Habitat for Humanity (9-12): various local builds, building temporary shelters for tsunami victims in India, probably going down south sometime soon to build houses for hurricane victims

Choir (9-12): about 7 hours a week on average, school choir went on tour with “Mozart’s Requiem,” synagogue choir soloist

Key Club (9, 10, 12): Committee Chair, Treasurer, VP. I was in India junior year, so no Key Club then. Organized canned food drive (raised over 14,000 cans), all sorts of other projects

Speech and Debate (10-12): 5-15 hours a week including research; South India debate session, Varsity Debate team, various awards in Foreign Extemporaneous and Ted Turner debate, Mock Trial “Best Witness” Award, Model UN participant

Howard Dean Campaign (9-10): 6 hours a week; Regional Youth Coordinator, Dialing for Dean Organizer and Precinct Captain

Young Democrats (10, 12): 5 hours a week; again, no YD in India; co-founder, co-president

Yearbook (11): 20-30 hours a week; editor in chief

Latin Ballroom Dancing (12): 4 hours a week; I’m not very good, but it’s just so fun…

Internship with Religion Professor at Butler University (12): 6 hours a week; research on mystical concepts of infinity, research on intersection of science and religion

All-Star Track (11): various awards

All-Star Soccer (11): our team was undefeated by everyone except our men’s team…no thanks to me, since I’m not really that good. I don’t know how I got on the team.

Dude you’re listing a resume and expecting other people to figure out what you’re passionate about.

Ask yourself, bro. Do IIII have passion for somthing? If you do, then it’ll be easy to see.

There’s definitely a few passions - seems like you’ve got a LOT of service/community related ECs, and they tie in with debate/politics stuff. you’re also sporty, but have an artsy (singing) Latin flare. you have a passion for a lot of things, which is good! a lot of people say it’s better to be lopsided these days, and even if that is a case, you seem heavy on community/politics . Then again, I’m just another applicant like you. and I have worse stats. :(

gregunit - The thread title is badly phrased. What I meant was “do my EC’s suggest that I have passion.”

I’m a girl, by the way…

:)

gorbachev, not you too!!! woo_98 must be rubbing off on everyone…

I know I know!!!

God this website is terrible for me!!!
I’ve gone from a normal, well-adjusted human being into an impressionable and insecure college-obsessed freak!
They really need a rehab center for CC adicts…

I think that you’re looking pretty fine. The habitat stuff is great, esp. the work you did in India. Don’t sweat it, we’re above all that. :)

Gosh, I agree about the rehab center. I’ve introduced each and every one of my teachers to CC, and they’re slowly become every bit as addicted as we are. CC Anonymous, anyone?

Hi everyone.

My name’s Gorby and I’m addicted to CC. It’s been approximately 0 seconds since my last post on CC.

u introduced ur teachers??? I think if I did that my teachers would tell me that I shouldn’t waste my time on such nonsense…

It’s funny…
But when I first looked at CC, I told myself not to waste my time with such nonsense…and then I did anyway.
