Another Example of prep school opportunities

My friend at one of the HADESish schools told me that today the assistant secretary of state spoke to his AP US history class. also that he has been invited to attend a small dinner with him tonight. I just wanted to share with all of you the fantastic experiences prep school can afford you. obviously, this is a rare and unique example but still how many great things, experiences, and opportunities prep school can afford you.

Wow, thats amazing.

drooling

Hcos- my son at Choate is at a presentation with Adlai Stevenson right now, is that who your friend had class with today? My other child went on an “AP Government” field trip to Washington DC. The highlight was getting inside tours of the White House, Supreme Court, Pentagon and Washington Post, all by young Choate graduates currently working at those places. I keep telling them that they will probably never, in their lifetimes, have these opportunities again LOL!

Another highlight of the weekend was a dinner out with a lot of recent Choate grads attending college in Washington DC- Georgetown, George Washington and American University. It was a really inspiring trip.

that’s great babystateresident :)

That sounds Awsomeeeee…now i want to go to prep even more:(

One piece of advice I have for all of you wonderful young people off to prep school next year is to take advantage of every opportunity you will be offered- plays, concerts, speakers, dinners, field trips, sporting events, adult mentors and coaches, terms abroad- it just may not get any better than this!

I know!
that’s why i want to go!
there are so many wonderful opportunities that Boarding school has to offer!

Mercersburg is in the process of selecting 10 (+/-) students to go on a 10 day trip to Costa Rica in June. The students will stay at a research facility to study either birds, turtles or monkeys. The cost of the trip to each student is $0. Yup, the school will cover the flight and housing. My d has applied, but even if she doesn’t get picked for this trip, she can apply for one another year.
Talk about an opportunity…I am jealous!

omg…that’s so awesome!

Zuzu- it does make you want to be in school again, doesn’t it? (Not that my high school would have ever offered any of those these things!) Costa Rica! Now that’s a field trip! As an adult, I like going to the “overflow” auditorium when they sometimes invite the parents to listen to a simulcast of evening program speakers at CRH. Last year was Eli Wiesel, this year was Robert Ballard. Sometimes I think the kids don’t realize how lucky they really are.

Sometimes? When you were a kid, did you ever realize how lucky you were? ;)

Just wait until March 10th (if there is good news) then we will all realize how lucky we are:)

:) i like that idea
