Price range @missbwith2boys?
$100-ish
@missbwith2boys , male or female???
Male. And it doesn’t have to be one thing - it could be several items for that total!
The travel fashion girls blog had one of the best gift guides for travelers that I’ve seen. Most of it is geared towards women but some is unisex.
Although my niece spent last year abroad, I think money to travel while there would have been the most appreciated. She traveled most weekends
For someone who is traveling a lot, they really don’t need too much in an effort to keep down the weight they have to schlep around.
More expensive than your budget would be a good travel backpack or noise cancelling headphones.
Less expensive, a camping type towel that dries quickly if he’s going to be going the hostel/cheaper accommodation route.
Also, a universal adapter. I have this one. It can be used in many countries.

A hanging toiletry bag or dop kit.

A good but lightweight rain jacket. Lots of sales going on online right now.
Books set in the countries he plans to visit.
My daughter has a nice leather, zippered pouch thingie for her passport and travel documents but my son couldn’t be bothered with that kind of stuff. Not sure if lots of guys fall into his camp or not. ![]()
^^echo doschico’s suggestions. Also could add a sleep sack if he’s going the budget end, hostel route and a kindle if he doesn’t already have one. If you know he’s a water lover, a waterproof cell phone holder is also a good option.
And thanks to all for the suggestions for my trainer. I don’t have a problem with cash for this particular person; my first choice is just always a gift that can be returned for cash if I think I have a reasonably high chance of buying something the person needs/wants.
Really good socks can be invaluable if you know the foot size–Costco has some great merino wool socks at good prices now.
@doschicos @deb922 @collage1 @HImom All really good suggestions! I’m going with a universal adapter, some travel cubes and some wool socks from Costco!
Those are very thoughtful gifts, @missbwith2boys!
I want to get a little getaway to Napa or Sonoma for Mr. Fang. Two or three days, midweek, to enjoy an area we like and support them after the terrible fires. Anyone have recommendations for a higher end hotel or B&B? I was thinking Guerneville or Healdsburg.
Two thumbs up, CF. No hotel recs as we usually stay at the Lodge at Sonoma, but I have a winery rec. Rombauer is awesome. The founder s great aunt was one of the authors of the Joy of Cooking. Their wine is awesome, next to none. Because it is a small property, make an appointment if you do decide to visit.
@missbwith2boys My son traveled southeast asia from January to June. He was on the go with just a backpack and stayed at hostels. I wish I had gotten him an adapter and a quick dry towel and if I wanted to spend more, a pair of Keen or similar sandals. His wish would be just $100 as that goes a long way there.
