I thought we might start an “in search of” thread.
I’m in search of a small ping pong table. We went camping with friends of my H and they had a mini ping pong table. It obviously was portable. It was lots of fun. Looking for model recommendations and size. When I search on Amazon they come in a few different sizes. I want a free standing not a tabletop model.
Thanks
Great idea. I can’t help you @mom60 but I have a request of my own!
Looking for a lightweight, packable jacket for my 20 year old daughter that is under $100. I have one similar to this that she loves but mine does not have the reverse print (which she wouldn’t like) :
https://www.6pm.com/p/marmot-turncoat-jacket-arctic-navy-arctic-navy-ice/product/8702323/color/623000
This one is another example but I can’t afford it!! https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Nano-Puff-Jacket_10312823_10208_10000001_-1_
At the same time, she will not want a no-name jacket. I get that, I would not either! So looking for an athletic brand at a better price.
This one has a bit of a down look a bit thicker than the one in your pick, but thin enough to wear under a raincoat. Our entire family has these Eddie Bauer microtherm jackets. They are unbelievably lightweight and can compress into almost nothing. Today only they are priced at 60% off with promo code WONDER… I just checked and for a women’s regular that came out to about $80. There is also a microtherm vest, but for that I went down one size because it has stretch panels on the side)
There is also a hooded version
@abasket check backcountry
@abasket - check Uniqlo - all the young women and men are wearing them in NYC. My D bought one last year and was able to wear it UNDER a blazer it’s that compact and light (and warm). She swears by them. www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-ultra-light-down-jacket-400711.html?dwvar_400711_color=COL07&cgid=women-outerwear-and-blazers-ultra-light-down#start=1&cgid=women-outerwear-and-blazers-ultra-light-down

@abasket LL Bean Primaloft Packaway Jacket is currently $79.99 and comes in a variety of solid colors.
I’ve been very happy with mine. I’ve had it for two years? D has one, but with a hood, and she loves it.
Thank you for the suggestions! I will check them out. Uniglo would probably not be what she would be looking for but I appreciate the suggestion. She specifically wants no hood. She is being a little brand snobbish - that’s ok, I can be that way with certain things too…she loves my Marmot one - unfortunately it’s a couple years old .
I’m looking for a good travel backpack with a sleeve so it can be hung on the rolling suitcase handle. It would be for S.
I’m also interested in a similar bag for myself. Sadly, neither Costco nor Sam’s Club had anything in stock, tho Costco does have a few things online.
I really like my north face thermoball jacket. I have 2, one with and one without a hood. They are a little cheaper than the Patagonia.
I looked at the thermoball jackets at backcountry, boy they are super expensive now. I’m sure I got both of mine for less than $100. I know I bought my black one with the hood at the outlet for less than $70. It was a great bargain

There are several good options from North Face, Marmot, and Mountain Hardware. Columbia is popular but less so by the brand conscious college students I know. Eddie Bauer, that’s what their parents wear.
Sierra Trading Post has opened some stores around the country. They’re part of TJX. There are also some good deals on some jackets at some TJMaxx stores, selections vary. The Marshall’s stores around me have a much smaller inventory.
I went to 4 TJ Maxx stores this weekend without luck! I’ll look at Sierra too - thank you!
^I didn’t know Sierra Trading Post was part of TJX. We’ve bought some beautiful ski clothes from there.
@abasket - I got a packable down jacket from Costco last year.
Costco had the North Face Thermoball full zip for $139.99 this weekend online, not sure they are available in store. The hoodie version is $159.99.
@HImom, if you don’t find a backpack with a sleeve, I found the following in The Container Store: https://www.easybagbungee.com/products/easy-bag-bungee
@abasket - did you check Ross? I bought my D one last spring it was North Face. I think you might struggle finding one of the popular with young people brands in that price. It’s good she likes Marmot as you might be able to find something in that brand or Mountain Hardware.

They have the Marmot light weight one but it’s a bit over 100$
Found some possible backpacks at Sam’s Club, as well as a down travel throw.
The backpacks are two different models—one is a Swiss weekender. The other is a leather backpack that has a strap which allows it to be put on your suitcase.
@abasket – here are selected styles from Patagonia on sale with free shipping. There is an extra 10% off the sales price when I last looked. Selected styles and colors and more men’s coats than women’s, but there are a couple under $100 which is a real bargain for Patagonia.

@abasket Eddie Bauer has this one that is $99 http://www.eddiebauer.com/product/womens-cirruslite-down-jacket/20612407?showProducts=&sizetype=&size=
^^
Actually that Bauer jacket is $59.50 after you plug in the promotional code of WONDER. That’s a deal! Love that icy blue color.
