Another One Bites The Bankruptcy Dust - Eddie Bauer

I just saw last week that our local Eddie Bauer store closed but I had no idea they went bankrupt and abruptly closed all stores! I purchased a coat last month that I was planning to return! Oh well - it fits but I was not wild about how it looked.

While I wasn’t a frequent shopper, I have always really liked their coats and have several. in fact, I have one that is at least 25 yrs old but the zipper finally broke and it was starting to get a little dingy. The EB coat I just bought was an attempt to replace the beloved coat which was thin/not bulky, waterproof exterior, hood and had a thin fleece lining. It was perfect for inbetween weather, esp damp, rainy days. I appreciated its non-bulky weight as it could easily be worn while driving. I have searched high and low and haven’t been able to find anything like it. The new one I bought was fairly close, but the back of the coat was longer than the front and kind of dipped downward, rather than cut straight across. I wasn’t crazy about how it looked but I guess I’m stuck with it now!

I have at least three other EB coats, all in great condition. Hopefully they will last as long as the one I have been trying to replace. I’m sad to see their demise as their quality was always reliable.

When we were at the outlet store today, I showed the clerk two items I was trying to find. One was a jacket that I saw on a recent trip and the other was to replace a jacket that my husband lost. She could take one look at the photographs and recognize and told me that they were from the retail store not the outlet store. I have no clue how she did that. In fact, the photograph of my husband‘s jacket, the first picture I found was a picture poorly lit and from the back. Nonetheless, she knew immediately that it was not from the outlet store. It was from the retail store. They carry different items.

Costco has EB jeans at $5 off til the 22nd and a women’s shirt from Land’s End is on sale too.

I think these are just licensed names though - like Costco sells Tommy Bahama socks. You’d never see them in the Tommy Bahama store.
