See my other thread in this forum for reference.

I would be willing, if I could, to go live with my godmother next year to finish high school…Including retaking my math class (not physics though, I already have enough science credits to graduate). If the need be, I might even be willing to to repeat my entire junior year. It all depends.

After reading through your other thread, I think this option is a great start. While likely the plan will have to be tweaked a little (will you just retake math? your whole year? live with your godmother all the time? etc.), the fact that you are willing to give possibly an additional year of high school another go is awesome. It shows a lot about your willpower, and makes me confident that even if you choose to get a GED and go to CC, you could stick it out.

However, do keep in mind that there will be a lot of changes to living with someone else, not only at home but in school. You’ll face a lot of the same challenges in math (although I certainly hope you have a more accommodating teacher), and the high school will follow a similar day-in-day-out format. Ultimately, you should choose the option that you’re most likely to complete. The biggest benefit of the high school path, however, is that you learn to adjust to an industrialized, impersonal setting. Most hospitals run like that, and even my dad’s small private practice isn’t a warm fuzzy “what would you like to do today, nurse X” environment. Nurses are given chores and commands all the time, and there are certain elements that will involve skills totally not in the science skill-set. Being adaptable is a valuable skill that I think high school teaches you–but of course, so is understanding yourself. I think this idea rocks, but it’s your call.

I would have to live with her the whole year…She’s in NYC, and I’m upstate. I mean, I would go home on holidays and breaks and stuff, but not much beyond that. About what I would retake? I don’t know. Just definitely not physics.

Question: How could I bring this up with my parents and godmother?
