who has the power?
Notice I said "WANT’ the power…
Groups who benefit politically and financially (usually one and the same) from the continued expansion of those who consider themselves victims. If individuals or groups are convinced that they have and will continue to get the short end of life, those individuals and groups will look for a savior to deliver them (funny, fits right into the religious allegory). Secular saviors make a lot of $$$.
It’s a nice sound byte at an election rally, garners anger and garners votes.
Oh…and those who run the victim disciplines at Universities…
And now…better stop or it becomes to political.
US news media probably got their reports directly or indirectly from Israeli sources on the ground. So when an Israeli news reporter writes a story, or Israel’s defense minister says something that gets quoted in a story, is it a surprise that the same terminology propogates to US news media?
Oh such nonsense: the NYT and essentially all the media have people in Israel. It’s perhaps the most media dense country in the world. (That in part feeds the constant coverage: they can report on whatever they want without fear of reprisal or, except in very few cases, being kicked out, unlike any other country in the region.) The Western reports emanating from Israel used the word “Jew” when Israeli was the correct term. That was an “unconscious coupling” - yes, that’s a bad joke - which belies the idea that so many of these people are “anti-Israel but not anti-Jewish” because they reflexively use Jew.
And to be clear, since this nonsense is a side-track, that was an example in my post about how people act reflexively toward minority groups, a point that has been proved again and again but which is something a black American faces more consistently because in general Jews don’t look that different (except for the horns).
Judge declares mistrial, as the jury couldnt reach a verdict. Things are only gonna get worse given the mood since the election.
