Another read for those seeking admission into Caltech

I generally refer all those who post a chance me type question to read the following threads

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/california-institute-technology/577759-why-caltech-different-open-letter.html

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/california-institute-technology/442418-anyone-wanting-know-their-chances-getting-into-caltech.html

Both those threads are by people associated with Caltech.

Here is one by a person not associated with Caltech and it reiterates the same things that the other two threads talk about, but is from the perspective of an outsider, who does have an agenda. Again this article may not be politically correct and might provoke negative reactions, but it does summarize the Caltech admission approach. You may agree or disagree with the philosophy, but that is Caltech for you. If you are applying to Caltech, you better show a passion for math and science. Please keep any discussions polite and professional as this article is a political article.

(Also the other two threads are specifically written to help candidates decide if Caltech is for them, this article only re-emphasizes some of the points made in the other posts. This one is optional, the the other two are must reads.)

[Why Caltech Is in a Class by Itself](http://www.mindingthecampus.com/originals/2010/12/why_caltech_is_in_a_class_by_i.html)
