Another USC problem I'm having :(

I’m wishing that things were smoother with my start at USC, my dream school, but they haven’t been.
My latest, is that my folks, trying to help me enjoy the place insisted on helping get a ticket to the Vanderbilt game. I was able to get a ticket, nice, but I’m not so sure this is the place for me. I decided not to go. Many issues
Fine, so we canceled my ticket as the student manager site outlines. We got a confirmation of “you just canceled your ticket, congratulations”
I later got another confirmation of cancellation.
Today I got notification of “no show” and that I"m now banned from all future student tickets for this football season. I guess the cancellation site is not run by USC (although it has USC colorations). I filled out the appropriate cancellation stuff, and they or someone tells me I did it successfully, but not “no” and I’m banned??
I’m 18 years old. I cancelled the tickets as they say to do and filled out the form, they don’t tell you that is through a 3rd party carrier, so once you get “successful”—it’s not!!!
You have to email the student tickets office. Very unhappy about so. Of course, once we saw “successful” we thought it was!!
Any advice. Of course will appeal. But…I’m just saying…

Do you have a copy of the email? Make sure to talk to Student Ticketing about it and show them a copy of the email.

This happens more often than you would believe, but that’s the reason they send out the email… to make sure that students who actually followed the proper procedure actually have a chance to appeal a mistake.

But… You’re just saying… what? There was a system error that you can go appeal. You have the confirmation email to prove that you did the right thing. And this is making your overall experience at USC bad?

USC, while it has a good football team, is more than just about football. It’s also a lot more than just greek. I have friends who go to neither football games nor are they greek, and they still have had a great experience. It’s about finding your niche and just rolling with the punches. If you keep letting stuff get you down, it’s going to make you miserable. Try to concentrate on the good, rather than the bad.

Anyways… as far as ticketing goes, you should search “Ticketing” on the Daily Gamecock’s website and see just HOW MANY articles come up with the problems of the ticketing system. Since I’ve been at Carolina, there’s been a different ticketing system every single year. That’s because of issues that you have described. (Which, I wouldn’t be a Carolina student if I hadn’t suffered through all of these issues with my fellow Carolina students. The frustrations of not being able to get tickets as a new freshman and the problems with the different ticket systems are all things that bring the Carolina community together… because it’s something we’ve all gone through as a community.)

This was an issue my first few home games: Students not credited for attending Navy game - The Daily Gamecock at University of South Carolina;

Anyways, I’d just say, lighten up, roll with the punches. Try not to have one thing make or break your experience here. With 20,000 undergrad students, there are going to be systematic issues. It can be a pain, but at least they give you the opportunity to correct the problems. Try to find other things to do around campus! Explore. Everyone has a unique and different experience when it comes to their time in college. There’s definitely something for you at USC. Just don’t get too down with the fact that your “dream school” is disappointing you in some aspects. Be positive.

AUGirl, I wish there were “reputation points” on this site. Very sound advice, as usual!

Thanks again, yes, I have the confirmation e-mail of cancellation of the ticket. Just expected, incorrectly, that I was dealing directly or indirectly with the Carolina student ticket folks. Now I know that canceling does not automatically get communicated to the student ticket manager office.
I will address it again today. Tried to do so yesterday, sent in an email, no reply.
I’m gonna try to “lighten up and roll with the punches”.
I’m just saying that why doesn’t USC communicate with the 3rd party that handles the cancelation and the USC faq site even directs one to “if you need to cancel”–so great that’s where I went. Only after getting notification yesterday and careful review of where my cancelation notices (because there are 2) were coming from, did I realize I was not dealing with the student ticket site.
My parents are coming for Parent’s Weekend, so now I can’t get a ticket–but they will?? I’m sorry to keep whining, but seriously this is NOT going well.

OP - sent you PM. As AUgirl suggested, walk a copy of your emails to student ticketing today.

My daughter received a ticket to the Chapel Hill game, but later found she could not go due to a Thursday lab that ended at 5:40pm. She cancelled in time and received word, all was OK. She was able to receive a ticket to the Vanderbilt game without a problem.

There is likely a deadline for cancelling tickets. Not sure if that may have been an issue.

USC called my Mom and said they check each cancellation manually and they had 500 cancellations. They apologized for the delay but said “I’m good to go”
