Antecedents

Alot of my non- bluebook practice has questions like " the dog chased him around the house" yet the antecedent for him is not present; reading silverturtle’s guide, he says all pronouns must have a clear antecedent so I am thoroughly confused

That’s a bad question–CB doesn’t use “him,” “her,” “them,” “those,” “that,” or “it” without antecedents (well, “it” can be used without antecedent when it functions as syntactic expletive, aka “dummy pronoun,” as in “It was raining when I lost my underpants.”)
