Anthony Bourdain has died

Another shocking death. I loved his shows.

It is reported he hung himself in France while there taping an episode of his show. Like Kate Spade, he too has a teenage daughter. So sad.

I just read this. Horrific.

:open_mouth:

Such an interesting life full of ups and downs. He seemed tough as nails.

This is so sad. Why are people in my age group suiciding so often?

OMG! I am so sad to hear this! I loved his shows. The kids just asked to watch one yesterday. How very sad.

"he too has a teenage daughter. "

Just 10/11.

We own all his books, and my husband was completely obsessed with him around the same time I was nurturing my Kate Spade addiction. In my little worldview, these losses feel very connected and very sad. Separately, I have a close family member with depression (treated with both medication and therapy) and these losses terrify me.

We really enjoyed his shows. Just sad.

I loved watching his shows, his wit and snarky sarcasm and the poetic use of words to describe the places he was experiencing was so different than any other travel or cooking show. When I read the books though - there was so much struggle below the surface. Lots of darkness. Why Paris of all places with all that life and beauty around - maybe it’s wrong of me to wonder.

Anthony was taping an upcoming show with his good friend Eric Ripert…the shows with the two together always seemed the most fun because they delighted in their friendship…

Eric Ripert was the one who found him.

Stunned and shocked. Not liking this week - it’s a lot to process.

:frowning:

Very shocking and sad. We are all huge fans of him and his show. Terrible news.

Sad- not shocked. Read his books and he spoke about his demons - addiction.
Read he was opening huge $$$ food emporium, but found this article it had been canceled late last year

So very sad. It was interesting to me to hear what my H had to say this morning compared to his reaction about Kate Spade.

So verry, very sad. I think of AnthonyBourdain as the founding member of the celebrity chef culture.

What a tremendous loss for the world. My H and I were huge fans.

I loved his shows. I always thought he would be the neatest person to travel with or even share a meal with. Doubtless the meal would stretch into the wee morning hours. RIP Anthony
