Anthony Weiner

soccerguy - it seems that male politicians do sort of have a monopoly on being idiots when it comes to keeping their pants zipped.

LOL mom2collegekids. Not exactly a thrill.

teriwtt, does a woman with political power suddenly become a magnet for men (no matter what her appearance) in the same way that male politicians, regardless of appearance, seem to suddenly become magnets for quite a few women? If “power” in women served as an aphrodisiac to straight men, would women, in general, be better able to resist the temptation than all too many men seem to be?

Exactly. Is playgirl magazine still on the newstands? Remember when it was claimed that women, as consumers, were clamoring for an erotica magazine featuring naked men? I remember perusing it briefly when it first came out, and thinking, “Meh… This is supposed to be a turn-on?”

Oh, Please he is 46 y/o, no one with an IQ higher than room temperature is going to believe that promise.

Can’t answer that unless I run for office and get elected! While I understand there aren’t as many women politicians as men to get an accurate comparison, I think someone upthread asked if we were aware of any women politicians who had been involved in cheating, then lying about it, and no one responded with any names.

Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey. Monica Lewinsky. Bill survived them all. The things Bill did to Monica in the Oval Office were the biggest “ewwww!” reaction I’ve ever had over a married politician’s sexual shinanigans. Weiner’s escapades wouldn’t be nearly so damaging, were it not for the pics. Bill’s lucky there was never a sex tape of him and “Miss Lewinsky” (with whom he never had sexual relations:rolleyes:). Just the cigar scene alone…

poetsheart - I should have clarified further… elected women politicians. Not just women associated with politicians.

ugh…His wife announced that she is pregnant. Hows that for timing?

Donna. I think you are just taking this more seriously than I am. :)

And, yeah, I agree about the whole thing where a 46 year old guy would think a 21 year old girl would have a good reaction to being sent a picture of his…uh…area. I mean, I think that would be something frightening to a girl that age.

Most 21 year olds would be horrified seeing a 46 year old mans private parts. He must think he is quite the stud…disgusting little man.

Teriwtt, I wasn’t naming these women as examples of women politicians who have engaged in sexual scandal. I was naming all the many times Bill Clinton has been embroiled in sexual scandal, and yet, lived to run/fight another day. It’s rather amazing actually.

Ah… your post came right after mine where I mentioned that no one had shared any names of women politicians who engaged in similar mischief. So I assumed you were addressing my post.

One thing I haven’t even seen anyone mention is that it doesn’t appear that all these young women to whom he sent X-rated photos of himself necessarily solicited or consented to his doing so. It may have been more along the lines of “Oh, Mr. Congressman, how exciting to talk to you, I’m a great admirer of yours!” — “Gee, thanks! Here, look at this!” Wouldn’t that be sexual harassment and illegal? I hope for his sake that it doesn’t turn out that any of these women were underage.

^He deserves what he gets.

was thinking same thing Donna…apparently a couple of the women were following him on twitter admiring him politically and he was aggressive in initiating an online conversation which quickly morphed into a sexual one. so yes, certainly seems to fall in the sexual harassment realm. in the work world, it would certainly be harassment, which from my understanding would be in the eye of the beholder to determine. wonder if any of the women will report feeling upset by his behavior, as it was stated they were surprised. (I realize one called him hot so she may have a different take)

Poetgrl, sorry for getting carried away about someone I don’t know and presumably never will. I feely admit that I empathize with her, and can’t help thinking about what it’s like to be in her position. To be blunt, I know what it’s like to find out after the fact that your spouse has been cheating on you throughout your marriage, from and before the very beginning of it, and possibly including the time-period when you and your spouse were trying to conceive a child. It isn’t a nice feeling, regardless of whether you were the husband or the wife at that time, and regardless of whether you should have guessed something was going on.

Magazines of that type have a readership. Of gay men. Women? Not so much.

DonnaL, I too was wondering how those online conversations went. I’d be disgusted if I wanted to talk politics with some guy and he sent me a picture of his junk. But maybe those women welcomed the conversation and the pictures.

Actually, I can’t imagine a situation in which I would welcome some guy emailing me a picture of his junk. Maybe if I was a urologist and he was my patient?

Can’t remember who said it, or else I would give credit, but we now have a sex scandal without any sex. What a crazy world we live in!

AFAIK, the late Rep. Helen Chenoweth of Idaho has been the only female elected official embroiled in a sex scandal, a long-term extramarital affair. She was yet another one of those “family values” types.
