Anthony Weiner

Where is Lorena Bobbit when we need her???

Kajon, OMG, I just sprayed coffee all over my keyboard!

blankmind, I totally agree - I’d be packing my marble rolling pin for a one-on-one meeting with the creep.

BAIT…so funny! (but oh, so true in this case)

Anyway, yes, a 46 year old man having online chats with a teen is inappropriate in itself.

Breaking news,but not a surprise…

Weiner is going to enter a treatment facility

Wow, shocker!

Wondered when this was going to happen…

Too bad it was do this or else. I was hoping we would do this for his marriage. It appears, however, he is doing this to save his career. He has indicated he will take a SHORT leave of absence from the House. He needs a 6-8 week intensive stay, not a 3-7 day “lets make this look good for my constituency.”

The Democratic leadership is throwing him over the side. Then again, the Republican leadership threw Larry Craig under a bus, yet he managed to stay in office.

I agree with sunnyflorida (and I think someone else upthread mentioned it) that New York has to lose two House seats, and the Democratic leadership is going to be delighted to make Weiner’s seat one of them.

^^ I think these politicians fell over the side on their own - something that can happen when you walk on the edge with blinders on. No one really threw them over (although I know you really mean whether the party’s supportive or not).

Even if he manages to stay out his term, I hope his constituency can manage to find someone with a more sound character to support and he doesn’t get re-elected for any public office.

Love how he “needs treatment” now that he is caught and is being asked by some to accept some consequences for his behavior. He did not seek treatment over the last few years while he engaged in these activities and was not caught. He just does not want any consequences for his behavior beyond the public speech that he gave about this.

Totally agree, sunnyflorida, a week in a rehab is not going to cure any addictions.

One week? Whose idea was that? It’s so ridiculous that it is insulting.

By the way, polls show that a healthy majority of his constituents want him to remain in office. He will have to run again, as all House members do, in 2012 (2-year terms). Unless his district has disappeared.

I don’t think these male politicians are ever truly sorry, they are just “sorry” they got caught.

^^ True words.

There is a video of Bill Maher and Jane Lynch doing a dramatic reading of Weiner’s x-rated exchange with the Las Vegas woman, accompanied by classical music. It’s hilarious.

He is so pathetic! Sending lewd pictures to women who expressed political approval. Then, it was discovered he was texting a 17 year old girl. Someone just about 1/3 his age and a minor. It was definitely a feeler text, but TG she didn’t pursue it. Certainly SOMETHING he did was illegal, wasn’t it?

Still, his ‘constitutents’ (63%) say to keep him in. Geez. Just who are polling to get that stupid response? How about they ask a well-rounded group, not just a bunch of trash-talking guys. I mean, if you ask the general public, I wonder what it would be. At least he’ll get the boot due to redistricting.

*I don’t think these male politicians are ever truly sorry, they are just “sorry” they got caught. *

I agree…and it shocks me how after these horridly embarrassing things come out, how many of them still continue participating in these behaviors.

And…not just politicians…but any celebrity…like Tiger Woods…or Steve McNair that married ex-NFL player whose girl-friend killed him. Frankly, I thought after the McNair murder/suicide that many guys would realize what a dangerous game that they’re playing and clean up their acts. But, no. :frowning:

You’d think after these awful things surface, most guys would do a “gut check” and clean up their acts before their dirty laundry gets the exposed.

Uhhh…wait a minute.

Hahaha CC is different.

Yes, well people with normal egos would, but the narcissistic believes “it will happen to thee and to thee, but NEVER TO ME”

Alright, I’ve officially lost my interest in Weiner. The man needs to go and go quickly. He is not worth paying attention to any more. Yuck.
