I defended him, because I simply couldn’t believe that anyone could be that stupid. I was wrong. I will never again defend any male politician who’s accused of not being able to keep his pants zipped. That’s it. I’m done.

Also: he’s been married less than a year. Assuming that monogamy was their understanding, why would he have bothered to get married if he was going to keep right on doing this kind of thing? Did he really think it would never come out?

What’s next, rehab for Internet sex addiction?

At least his wife wasn’t standing by his side like poor Mrs. Spitzer.

The thing that baffles me about these guys is that it keeps happening! I guess they must think, "Sure, Hart got caught, and so did Clinton, and so did Gingrich, and Vitter, and Edwards, and Frank, and Condit, and Spitzer, Packwood, Foley, Sanford, Giuiani, Craig, Schwarzenegger … but not ME!

I know, it is baffling. How could he think that this wouldn’t come out? I mean, if I was just a regular anonymous, nameless guy like schmaltz (ha), I wouldn’t think I could get away with it. No way, I would be totally paranoid about doing something so traceable and visible. Why would somebody with such visibility do something that is so obviously going to be made public? Was he looking for a new career?

All of the analysis on TV and here is sort of superficial.

This isn’t some slick Ivy League playboy who thought he was above the social norms. This is a guy who was probably a nerd in high school (a soprano with a 14-inch neck, as Mike Royko used to call such folk) and never got much attention from the females, went to a SUNY, & eventually found himself in a prominent position at the very time that all sorts of social media allowed him to discover, research, meet, and flirt with women without having to actually confront them in person. I can’t stand the guy, but it was a perfect storm of nerdy background/prestigious job/technology and the guy succumbed to opportunity and temptation.

As all of our mothers used to say, “Never do anything that you wouldn’t be comfortable having splashed across the front page of the New York Post.”

For these guys, it’s absolutely inevitable that it will be discovered. I think he should resign not because of what he did, or for lying about it, but for being so stupid that he thought no one would discover it. It was inevitable.

Agree with Schmaltz, this guy probably never made eye contact with an attractive woman, until he landed on the political scene…Kirsten Power from Fox News dated him and was quoted recently saying women approached Weiner during their dinner dates, and just handed him their business cards…if he were an english teacher at a local high school,i doubt he’d have gotten the attention of women he has gotten since entering politics…

What i don’t understand is the number of attractive women this guy has dated…he is geeky,at the very least, and not terribly handsome…can some of the ladies shine some light on his for me?..

What he did in his personal life doesn’t really anger me, it is his arrogance and lying that should force his resignation

And if he is forced to resign, perhaps he can he a spokesman for

1-800-GOT JUNK

The male politicians cannot keep their pants on OR they cannot keep their hands out of each other’s pockets. It is always sex & money.

Are there any female Senators or Congresswomen who have ever been caught in a sex scandal?

Even if he weren’t a politician and should have known better, a guy his age sexting? That is SO lame!

And he had time for this kind of stuff with numerous women he did not know?!

According to TMZ, this arrogant fool was corresponding with a porn star as late as June 2nd. Sexting with 6 women? I have no doubt that is a lie too.

qdogpa, I’ll answer. Along the lines of the old saw, “He’s taller when he stands on his wallet,” I think power has a similar effect. Haven’t most of us women been attracted to someone who wasn’t a total hunk because he was powerful, charming, etc?

This is off topic, but a pet peeve of mine is when commercials and sitcoms show average/unattractive men getting much hotter women. As if.

The closest I can recall have been scumbag attempts to suggest that some of these female politicians are closeted lesbians (because I guess we’re supposed to assume that powerful women, unlike powerful men, are unattractive to the opposite sex). Oddly, perhaps the most famous attempt to create such a story involved an attempt to link a certain female Senator with a close aide during the Senator’s campaign to become president. The aide is now Congressman Weiner’s wife.

The NY Times said that his wife has known of this behavior for awhile. What’s that all about?

I’m hoping the wife will do what Tiger’s wife did and just slowly remove herself from the situation. How humiliating! With only a year in the marriage, I’d back out gracefully and be done with him. I know people marry for all kinds of reasons and maybe this was all about being a power couple - IDK. If it’s about love, that would be OUT the window for me. If it’s about power, he’s damaged goods. Either way, I’d dump him.

I agree, but see how Maria stayed with the Arnold when he was clearly a womanizer? I don’t get that.

Schmaltz, this guy may well have been a ‘soprano with a 14-inch neck’ in high school, but I suspect he was already an arrogant know-it-all with a loud mouth. This type is not that rare in high school. Their inability to relate to girls in a normal fashion has more to do with their personality than their skinny physique and cracking voices.

I don’t get why everyone is so surprised. He never came across as a nice, mature guy.

Hard to know what his personality was in HS. His HS photo is … interesting [Anthony Weiner Twitter pic scandal: It’s about time for the embattled pol to grow up](http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2011/06/07/2011-06-07_youre_outta_school_so_grow_up_anthony.html) Reminds me of Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter, and we all know what he was up to in his later years!

Agree!
What baffles me -how could an intelligent, beautiful, worldly woman like Huma Abedin not figure AW out after the first date?
