I really hoped that all the obfuscating was just about old photos from before the marriage. Still icky, but not quite as reprehensible. This sort of narcissism seems all too often to go with being a politician unfortunately. But I really don’t get the stupidity. In this day and age you will get caught.

Don’t hold your breath. Remember the Congress-critter whose boyfriend was running a prostitution ring from the Congress-critter’s Washington apartment? He’s still in Congress. Why wouldn’t Weiner think he can get a free-pass on this little affair?

LOL to all of the above. What a shame for his wife. I’d have a hard time trusting someone after those lies and stupidity. BTW previous to this incident, he had ticked off enough Dems through is crass self-promotion that, according to some commentators, none cared to support him.

Heard on the radio this evening. A Las Vegas blackjack dealer has hundreds of tweets from Weiner.

This ain’t over.

soozie, I disagree that an affair would have been worse. I could understand a normal affair. People fall in love or lust, and no one knows the truth about any marriage. I would not think that a politician who had had an affair should leave office, necessarily.

I think that Weiner’s behavior was sick, extremely immature, and stupid on the scale of Gary Hart. He might just as well have sent the photos to the media himself. He was going to get caught sometime. There are 435 members of congress. I am a political junkie, often following out-of-state races, and sometimes contributing to them. I could not name more than 100 of them. Weiner is probably among the 30 or so best-known of the group. He is always on television, always attracting attention.

I was a strong supporter - not a voter, he was not in my district. I think he needs to resign now.

Can’t wait for the headline puns. “Scandal dogs Weiner”.

Who else want to play?

need we say more??

“Where are the male commentators on this thread?”

Most are probably busy deleting text messages, emails, and computer files.

86, 87, 88…all very funny!

NYMomof2:
Believe me, I think this is bad and particularly dumb as a politician. I was saying that for his wife, this is horrible too. But I was also saying that while there are stories out lately…seems like one a week…about these behaviors of politicians…that there has been various degrees…and this is having online relationships and sending racy photos and lying about it and some are affairs where someone has fathered another child with a mistress…I think the latter is worse for a wife, but both are quite bad. In terms of being a politician, the biggest indiscretion is the lying to the public. And the behaviors themselves look poor and not upstanding, even if a personal matter.

Sorry that he pulled a David Vitter. Oh, wait - he didn’t have any sex?

(I hope he resigns - for the lies, not for the original action.)

Weinergate heats up

Introducing: “Congressional Weiner” Day (Maybe at Yankee Stadium?)

How to Tweet Your Weiner with Respect

Anthony’s Theme song…
Oh, I wish I had a picture perfect weiner, that’s is what I truly want to have oh yeah…
Cause if I had an picture perfect Weiner, everyone would fall in love with me…

Sick stuff… I know.

Ha ha!!!

To quote a South of the Border billboard – “I never sausage a thing!”

Schmaltz #88… perfect!

but #91 and 93 good, too. I am watching Colbert right now… will see if he can top you guys.

Colbert was hilarious!!! Giddy yup!

Anthony Wiener is a JERK and all the women who got his tweets and didn’t reject the first ones are also JERKS. Keeping creepy stuff “just in case” is CREEPY!

This thread reminds me of all the David Vitter threads here a while back.
Oh. Wait. There weren’t any? Not ONE??? Even when there was a Politics section???

Good thing Vitter resigned, 'cuz he did something illegal.
Oh. Wait…

As a conservative friend of mine put it –

He apparently sent this kind of thing from an email account using his real first and last names.

He needs to resign not for sending racy photos or lying about it, but for being certifiably insane.

And staggeringly stupid!

The ENTIRE Colbert episode was hilarious. Giddy yup indeed!!!
