So I am studying at a community college and will transfer in another year. I have a high GPA and level of preparation, so I feel confident that I will have my pick of the UCs and CSUs.
My primary interest in the field of Anthropology is in doing participant observation and ethnographies.
What are some schools in CA that have a strong program that will allow me the best opportunity for this kind of research?
I am considering Berkeley, Irvine, Santa Cruz, UCLA but I am open to CSUs as well.
I am particularly interested in studying Academic and Educational cultures.
I should mention that I plan to take some quarters/semesters abroad, and hopefully do some research there. I am also planning for a second major in Linguistics, so a school with a good linguistics program is also a point of consideration.
I would really appreciate the advice of folks working/studying in this discipline so I can learn from your experience and put myself on the best path to do this type of research in the future.
