Antivirus Protection for Computer- Recommendations

I have used Norton for a long time and always just buy it when the price drops on Amazon and then install when my subscription is running out. Just realized today when a message popped up that mine is expiring in a few days so I got on Amazon to check prices. The prices right now are more than I usually pay but the thing I noticed most is that every one of the new versions has auto-renewal, which I don’t want. I know that you can go in and turn it off(at least you could in the past), but I don’t want to give them my credit card information and have never had to in the past. So, I am considering switching to something else, Norton seems to use a lot of system resources anyway.

I did some searching and it looks like PC Magazine rated Mcafee, Kaspersky, and Bitdefender very high. Mcafee always seems highly recommended, but I noticed some reviews that said the newer versions use a lot of resources and are very invasive. I was considering Bitdefender but have no personal experience with it.

Anyone able to help me figure out what I should go with?

Kaspersky has some dubious ties to the Russian Federal Security Service so, for security reasons, I wouldn’t recommend using it.

I just loaded the free Norton subscription Xfinity offers onto my new laptop tonight.

Bitdefender is good but sometimes too many pop ups.

Eset has been very good and have used it for many years.

For free as a second scan use Malwarebytes

Sometime Superspyware will find things when others can’t.

I’ve used Bitdefender for a few years and have liked it. I don’t get any pop ups. Last year, the Geek Squad installed WebRoot, in addition, and I’ve had some problems. I think it shut off my BItdefender firewall. If you go with Bitdefender, make sure the firewall is working.

Web root is horrible. Throw it out. Uses too many resources…

Amazon has bitdefender total security 5 devices 2 year subscription, $49.99 minus $20 coupon equals $29.99. Is this a good option, or just get one of the basic antivirus packages?

Great price even if you don’t use all of them. But if you can even a better deal. It’s a solid product.
