Anxiety in Adult Children

My son has had anxiety on and off since he was a kid. It seems to have reared it’s ugly head recently. He is back on Lexapro and has been doing well but still has an occasional bout depending on the circumstances. I guess I’m just looking for support from parents who have dealt with this problem. How do you deal with it when you get a call or can tell things are just not right?

You say, “Are you taking your meds the way they’re prescribed?” You help him find a therapist he can work with. You accompany him to his prescribing doctor and say, “What he’s not telling you is…” or “What I’ve noticed is…”. Of course you can only do that with his cooperation.

I communicated with my elderly mom’s Doctor by faxing a letter to her doctors office the day before her appointment.

I was able to tell the doctor the concerns her children had about her health and declining abilities to live independently.

Doctors want to know this stuff, even when they are not allowed by law to talk back with you.
