Any advice on bike baggage?

I’m having a bit of trouble and was wondering if anyone had advice on what the best way to ship a bike with me via plane would be.

Do airlines allow baggage of a fully assembled bike that has padding and such?

anyone know if southwest airlines allows unboxed baggage?

I don’t really know, but calling the airline would help or visiting their FAQ on their website.

BUT

Unless you really really LOVE your bike. I’d suggest just leaving it at home and just buying a bike here to avoid the hassle. They have bike auctions, for inexpensive bikes and the bike barn also sells bikes year round.

IF you are taking the bike to school you can ship it rather than take it with you. It is cheaper and you wouldn’t have to deal with it and your luggage at the same time.
I recently shipped a bike by fed-ex and it was very reasonable. ( a lot cheaper than the airline would charge). I even got the box free from a local bike shop - just removed pedals and wheels and put it in the box with padding.
Last time we flew with a bike they charged $100 each way!! I fed-ex’d it for $28 and it only took 3 days.

Yea…my dad just ended up padding the thing and we are taking it with us. I think they are charging $50 for being over 62in, but other than that they arn’t charging me more.

and yes, i love my bike lol xD
