<p>I am considering going to Penn for a Master of Arts in East Asian Languages and Civilizations.<br>
Has anyone here applied to or been accepted into the program? Any tips?
I have complete faith in my ability to write an excellent personal statement and an excellent sample essay for the application. My only concern is that with East Asian Languages and Civilizations Penn seems to expect applicants to have had the same major as an undergrad. My undergraduate major is International Affairs, which, while a different major, is undoubtedly related in terms of the material covered. I have certainly taken a number of classes related to East Asian politics, history, and culture. I have also had a few semesters’ worth of training in Chinese language that I feel would be helpful in applying to the EALC program. Can anyone else who has applied to the program (especially those who had a different major as an undergrad) give me any advice on the matter?</p>
