Any AI related opportunities for a rising junior?

I am a rising Junior and is really interested in AI. Medical uses of AI is not really my thing and I don’t see my self ever going into the field of health. Are there any good summer programs for me to apply to?

Your local college may have something.
Try asking an AI🤣…
Here is Google Bard’s response

“ Absolutely! There are quite a few fantastic summer programs for rising high school seniors to delve into the exciting world of AI. To personalize the options for you, could you tell me a bit more about what you’re looking for?

Here are some factors to consider:

  • Program format: Online, in-person, or hybrid?
  • Focus: Introductory or advanced AI concepts?Specific areas like machine learning, computer vision, or natural language processing?
  • Duration: Weekend workshops, week-long camps, or multi-week programs?
  • Location: Open to attending programs anywhere, or have a preferred region?
  • Budget: Any scholarships or financial aid opportunities available?

Once I have a better understanding of your preferences, I can recommend some specific programs that would be a great fit for you.

In the meantime, here are a few popular options to get you started:

  • Stanford AI4ALL: Online program offering introductory and advanced AI courses taught by Stanford faculty.
  • Veritas AI: Virtual program with different tracks for various AI skill levels, including beginner-friendly options.
  • NYU Tandon’s Machine Learning Program: In-person program at NYU Tandon University, Brooklyn, NY,covering machine learning fundamentals and applications.
  • Harvard Pre-College Program: In-person program at Harvard University offering various computer science courses, including some with an AI focus.

I’m excited to help you find the perfect AI summer program to fuel your passion and future endeavors!”

Yes, there are plenty of AI usecases outside of AI. Is your goal to learn the foundations of data science and making AI models from a math and CS perspective? Or are you looking to use some AI tools to make an impact?

I think I’m trying to learn more and make and impact.

I used to coach robotics teams. If you join a local FTC or FRC team as a programmer, you’ll learn and use object detection (openCV, tensorflow, etc.), likely by reaching out to programmers in other teams and learn from them. Summer is usually when the programmers polish their skills.
