Any Calculus Shortcuts?

Are there any essential calculus shortcuts that will help make things easier? Our class is on Integration of exponential and natural logarithmic functions.

Also, how much harder does calculus get from here? Are the BC topics a lot harder and difficult to understand?

Question 1: AlwaysTired, I must say that I really hate the idea of shortcuts in math. You should learn all the concepts and have them down cold. Only then can you start memorizing formulas. Remember the power rule, chain rule, product rule, division rule, Mean Value Theorem, and the fundamental theorem of calculus. Also remember all the important derivatives and integrals, of course. But I can’t really think of shortcuts, not do I really want there to be shortcuts anyway.

Question 2: No. BC is largely AB and some extra new fun stuff.

I agree with dchow. BC is basically AB’s content, with insertions like integration of partial fractions and substitution by parts (i suppose that’s what its called).

here’s a tip: learn how to use your gc rly well. some gc geeks in my school get up to a grade higher in finals here just because of their skills.

I’m assuming that “gc” means graphing calculator?

Yes. For many problems you can eliminate a lot of the work and possible error by using the graphing calculator.
