Any chance at selective schools? (tufts?, johns hopkins? vanderbilt?)

Hi so I got deferred from Duke today ED… So I need some help finding RD schools
Any help would be appreciated…

GPA: School doesn’t do GPA or ranking (private schools smh) – would probably be a 3.6 but its a hard school
ACT Comp: 35 (36 science, 35 reading, 35 math, 35 writing)
SAT II: 780 Math II and 760 Math I
Intended Majors: Mathematics and Chinese
Extracurriculars: Cell Culture Internship from Mount Sinai in NYC (got an extra letter of rec), JV field hockey 3 years, Varsity field hockey manager, School Choir, Volunteer internship at local kindergarten class, NYU Math circle, Foreign Language instructor, President of Asian American Club and China Care, Students of Color mentor, Stage Manager for Drama productions

State: CT (school in NY)
Gender: F
Race: Asian
Hooks: first generation, first generation college?
Financial aid: yes… >75,000

Courses Senior year: AP Physics 1, AP Lit, AP Chinese, Linear Algebra, AP Calc AB

Looking for a school not in the middle of nowhere and with good financial aid…any ideas?

You should look at Naviance for your school. See if others from your HS were admitted with similar statistics. The rest of your profile looks fine.

You should try and calculate your gpa. Look up what the schools you’re interested in calculate it. 3.6 is good, but it doesnt look as good as all your other stats.

–What is the $75,000 you quoted: family income or total amount of aid you require?
–What was your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) when you ran the Net Price Calculator for Duke?

family income for the 75,000, my parents have a combined income a little lower than 75k
my sister goes to duke now and we pay around 15k a year w scholarships

–What were sis’s stats?
–Did she attend the same HS as you?

Good shot at Tufts but I think all the others are just as competitive and elite as Duke.

I think you will get accepted to Tufts but rejected from JHU and Vandy. Your extracurriculars simply do not match up with your intended major.
