Any chance for a grade recovery?

<p>So I just got my midterm back for a chem class, and I did not do so well–71%</p>

<p>The average for the midterm was 75% which constitutes as a B- (nothing said about standard deviation). This is the only midterm and it counts for 25% of the overall grade. </p>

<p>The overall grade distribution is 25% midterm, 25% quizzes, 50% final. Also, according to the professor’s syllabus, he guarantees you a C- if you get at 50% in the class. There is always some curve, though it might not be great.</p>

<p>Is there any chance for grade recovery after my midterm? Right now, all I want is a B+. How attainable is this goal?</p>

87-(71*0.25)=69.25
If you can get quiz 25%, then (69.5-25)/50 = 88.5 is the score you need for Final. And as you said, there is always some curve.</p>
