Essay: I think it was fairly strong. I spent a good deal of time on it and I liked it, but didn’t love it. Still, I thought it was better than most of the essays I’ve read from other people, including some who were admitted to Wash U.

Recs: I mean I know they’re very praising, and one of the teachers is pretty eloquent, but I can’t be sure how the recs stack up against others.

And I’m from WV so I should get a little bit of help from geography

I’d say you ahve a really strong chance. Your standardized testing is good, and you seem pretty active in your school/community. As long as your transcript falls in line with the above, I’d say you’re in.

btw, what is this US Senate Youth Program you speak of?

thanks

I knew I’d forgotten something
Unweighted GPA is 3.94, weighted is 4.09

USSYP is run mostly by the William Randolph Hearst foundation, but is in conjunction with the senate. They select 2 students from each state (plus DC and Dept. of Defense Schools) to bring to DC for 9 days. They fly you in and house you in a very snazzy hotel. THen you get to meet with diplomats and other politicos (possibly including the president-- they don’t release the agenda and they say its only some years, but I’m hopeful), go to a reception with a bunch of senators, and get to see lots of DC. It also comes with a $5000 scholarship, which is very nice.

yeah, i’d say your in haha. as long as you showed interest.
