Any cons to taking the written portion of ACT?

<p>How will a poor score look to a school that doesn’t require the reading portion? Will taking it and scoring well make any difference to a school that doesn’t require it?</p>

<p>Son did well on the ACT (31 with good scores on all parts). Writing portion was his worst- 6.</p>

<p>It did not reflect on his admissions at all- He applied to 15 schools (2 different majors involved) and he was accepted at all the schools he applied to. </p>

<p>I think it will only have a negative impact if you are applying as a Journalism (or similar) major.</p>
