Maybe that is true with something stronger like vodka but does anyone remember those “white wine spritzers” that were so popular about 25 years ago? What a dud of a drink - you could not get a buzz from those if you tried. All the girls ordered them and it was really like drinking a third of a glass of wine because the bars used to put so much club soda in them. So glad they are a thing of the past. I used to feel guilty ordering anything stronger thinking people would think I was some sort of heavy drinker. But those spritzers were just useless!
They are a good thing to order if you are at a business function and sort of want a drink but not too much of one.
Those wine coolers had like 3% alcohol. They were not strongly carbonated either. My suspicion is that the manufacturers diluted them with sugary water, which made them even weaker. But there was no one to bring up a class action lawsuit because the “class” was mostly underage party girls!..
The wine coolers were too sugary for me. But the spritzers with wine and soda water were good and light.
The “wine coolers” are something different than a white wine spritzer that you order at a restaurant or bar. The coolers are too sweet for me as well. MOWC do you still order a white wine spritzer when you are out? I have not had one in years.
Tonight at midnight my 2nd cocktail party of the evening I started with straight club soda. It looked like a gin and tonic. I then moved back to straight wine at dinner.

ooh…I love gin and tonic on a hot day, poolside…especially with lime. That Seagram’s gin with the lime liqueur is perfect for this!
Me - at work, water in a tall glass from the fountain down the hall; at home, club soda with a dash of salt and freshly squeezed lemon slice. I probably drink a can of soft drink every week or two, and if I did a blind taste test, I probably couldn’t tell diet coke from zero or diet pepsi. For all I know I may have a hard time telling sugared vs sugar free.
