any disadvantage to using my 4 free score sends now?

im not 100% which colleges i want to apply to, i finish school in australia in december this year, but i MIGHT apply ED to stanford.
should i send the scores now with the 4 free reports?
i might retake the sat I in october, but stanford, berkeley MIT etc all require all scores, so I guess the only difference sending them now makes is I save $40?
is there a problem sending the scores before i even reply?

Yes, very big disadvantage. If you’re not sure of your scores (suppose you are expecting 2200 but end up getting 1900), then the colleges will associate that score with your name forever, they will have it even if you give the SAT again and send them the new scores. In short, they’ll have your scores and you’ll have no chance of changing this option.

but if i took the sat again and scored better, for stanford i would have to send them all anyway?

Why do you say that? Wouldn’t you normally just send your best ones?

from stanford’s site:

Applicants must self-report and submit all SAT scores OR all ACT scores. Applicants cannot elect to use the College Board’s Score Choice or elect to “hide” any scores with either testing agency. The only exception to this rule would be tests taken for the purpose of talent programs in middle or junior high school (e.g. Johns Hopkins Center for Talent Youth, Duke University’s Talent Identification Program, etc.). Those test scores do not have to be sent to Stanford. Applicants may also selectively submit whichever SAT Subject Test scores they choose, as those scores are not required for admission.

Well then, you should send the scores, you’ll save $40 :)
