Any Drexel Questions/Prospective/Accepted Students

Do all merit scholarship decisions get posted at the same time? I see that I’ve got a $24k AJ Drexel Scholarship, but I’m wondering how to apply, or when I’ll see if I’ve gotten a Dean’s Scholarship, because based on numbers and activities, I think I’ve got a good chance at it.

It was mentioned somewhere in this thread that co-op is not actually required for graduation. I was under the impression that it was. If this is true, does this mean that if you are in a major with a minor, that you could do one of your three co-ops in your minor and the other two in your major (or vice versa).

Or one year, could you just not do a co-op at all and spend your co-op time just slacking off.

aprilJ

You pick your co-op schedule when you first come to Drexel.
Yes, you can do a co-op that relates to your minor, bonus pts if it relates to your major as well.
And if you sign up for the 3 co-op, you have to do complete all three because those 6month periods count for “co-op credit” required for graduation. Plus it’d be stupid to waste your co-op time because that’s either your summer or your winter break spent with co-op advisors breathing down your neck to get a job or at least actively look.
4 yr, no coop
4 yr, 1 coop
5 yr, 3 coop

My daughter saw online yesterday that she was accepted and that there’s a letter in the mail, but the only thing listed under financial aid is that they got our FAFSA. Does this mean that she likely didn’t get any institutional aid, or does that information all come in the letter?

EmptyNestTime,
My son was accepted in the fall and he also did not get merit aid and yes, we knew that right away. The finaid package took about two weeks for us after we filled out the FAFSA. We found out about it on-line just a couple of days ago.

how can i know about my application coz my friend already got her offer but not same university with me, however I still worry about my application to Drexel?can I know about it in any way???plez I really worry…:(

If you haven’t heard from Drexel via e-mail, then just call them.

My d got accepted with a great scholarship, but the program she wants is now housed in a depressing basement. Any idea when the URBN center is going to open?

I applied for mechanical engineering with a four-year co-op program and got accepted. Is it possible to switch from four-year to five-year co-op?

I’m a transfer and have questions about transfer students.

How does Drexel handle transfer student housing? Are we guaranteed housing our first year? (I’m coming from CA if that helps.)

What is the process for registering for classes and how difficult is it to get the classes you need?

One more.

Are parents usually at the accepted student days? I would be coming from CA and would have my Aunt with me. She’d probably come either way but I am just wondering.

My daughter was accepted and we went yesterday to accept day and my daughter brought us (the parents) and her brother.

What were your thoughts on the Accepted Students Day? Did you find the format/activities beneficial? Were there specific breakout presentations based on major?

Yea. What dis you think of the accepted student day? What kind of “activities” did they have?

I am planning on going on April 10 because its the first Sunday of my spring break. Still have not bought an airline ticket yet so I’m trying to make sure it is worth my money to give Drexel a second look.

I was at accepted students day on Saturday.
I was with my parents, and from what I could tell, so were most other kids.
They had a welcoming speech thing, and then they divided us by major.
I was Biological Sciences, so they took me to a building where 2 of the faculty talked about their research and how students could get involved. It was interesting and beneficial to me.
Then they took us back to the main building and there was about an hour of down-time where most people went to lunch. After lunch, there was different activities we could do based on our interests. Campus tours, tours of Philly, Honors college informational speeches, Study abroad information, Student living, etc.

Overall I thought it was fun and informative and I’m glad I went.

I’m a drexel pre-junior. My friends and I wanted to take like a greek history class, but none was available. Is it possible (if there are enough students and a willing professor) to create a class?

How is freshman housing ?

The dorms looked okay. Accepted day was nice. Got to talk to the professors.

How does upper classman housing compare to freshman?

I’m a transfer and would hopefully get into an upper classman dorm coming from socal.

@AtlanticJumper who was speaking on the topic of Co-Ops…
so you can basically pick out a co-op track that you think would best fit your future career etc? Do you technically have to be under a specific major to do a certain co-op … as in are you limited to doing a co-op that is just under your major, let’s say Business when you would like to do Marketing or something else?

Co-op just always confused me haha.
