My local school district is making noises about MCL and I’m just beginning my research. Seems they are prepared to graduate kids at 15 or 16 if they complete the graduation requirements or move a 2nd grader into 4th if they are ‘ready’–whatever that means. If a student can complete a social studies class in a marking period, they should be able to begin the next course immediately rather than wait for the next year/semester. Can’t wrap my brain around that kind of individualized instruction. It’s really requiring a shift in my thinking. Not sure how I feel about a 16 year old being ready for college.
