Any freshmen feedback from denison?

If you have freshman at Denison this year, how are they adjusting? How do they find classes, socail circles, food, dorms, surroundings, etc?

Thanks!

My son is doing great! He reports that he loves his classes, and that 3 out of the 4 are “hard” (I think that’s good). He says he likes all of his “teachers.” He seems to have made lots of friends so far and is participating in lots (too many?) extra curricular activities. He is in Smith dorm, which he says is fine (although he says he is not in his room much) - that dorm was recently rehabbed and has exceptionally nice furniture and storage. I asked if there is much drinking and drugs, he said yes but, “no way do you have to do that stuff.” He is not happy with the food (but he is a bit of a gourmand, so I knew that might be a problem). He is playing an instrument in two ensembles and has felt very welcomed by the music department. It seems like the promise of the small school with a personal approach is really playing out. I have to say, the kids seemed really nice when I was there. Overall, I couldn’t be happier. Now let’s hope it lasts!

Is your son there? How is he doing. Well, I hope!

My child is doing great. There seems to be so much to do. So many choices in activities. There are so many diverse personalities that finding a group that fits is easy. There are constant stories of group outings around campus and hours spent at the coffee house chatting. Mine says the food is not good but we did sample it during the couple of visits we had so that shouldn’t be a surprise! I’m not sure much time is spent off campus (but there is so much to do on campus). There are a couple of resturants in town (one even held a fundraiser the other night for Hurricaine victims and they went down to participate). There is a shuttle to take you further on weekends if you need to get away.
Just today we were talking about how great the choice to attend this university was. A perfect fit socially, academically (loves the professors) and politically (more diverse than where we come from). This seems to be a great college to explore and challenge yourself at (at least for my child). Needless to say this was the right choice (even with bad food!) at least for the first 3 weeks! Oh and the dorms are not that bad.I thought the rooms were a decent size and very clean.
